Packaging 101: How to Find Yes! Apples in Stores

You may know that you can buy Yes! Apples in our online shop. But you can also find our New York-grown apples in a variety of retail outlets, including Market Basket, Whole Foods, H-E-B, Sprouts, and more (a complete list is here).

When you shop in the produce section at your favorite retailer, how can you find Yes! Apples? Here’s what you should look for.

Our apples are available in a variety of packaging:

  • Paper totes – Made from recyclable paper, our paper totes are a convenient way to package apples.

  • Plastic bags (now made with less plastic) – We’ve reduced the amount of plastic required to make our apple bags by up to 5%.

  • Cardboard boxes – Our new cardboard boxes at Costco support 1% for the Planet and are fully recyclable.

Some of our retail partners use private labels, but you can look for the teal Kwik Lok tabs to see if the apples you’re buying are Yes! Apples.

When you’re done using your Yes! Apples packaging, make sure it is clean and dry, then recycle it. Often, paper bags and cardboard boxes can be recycled curbside. Drop plastic bags off at your nearest soft plastic recycling location, usually at your favorite grocer.

We source packaging materials from manufacturers that have adopted sustainable practices and are a member of How2Recycle, a standardized labeling system that clearly communicates recycling instructions to the public. Yes! Apples is also a member of the United Fresh Produce Association Sustainability Task Force.
